The purpose of this two and one-half hour seminar is to
give parents and students an understanding of what leads up to and what is involved in the college application process and
to provide a pathway through this process. This information is presented from the viewpoint of both an educator and
a parent who has had three children attend college.
College
admission has become very competitive. Grades, SAT/ACT scores, and extracurricular activities are all playing an enormous
part of the application process. Most students and parents do not understand many of the facts that are involved in
this process. For example...did you know that a student actually has only five semesters to "set" their GPA?...or
there is the frequently heard question, "When should my student start taking the SAT/ACT?" These questions
and others will be addressed at this seminar.

following focus is the basis of this seminar and will be presented in detail as to how it can be applied from the 9th through
the 12th grade:
